Melanie Baker

Melanie Baker, PCC music literacy instructor, is a life-long musician and
educator. She has been playing the piano since Kindergarten.  In jr. high and high
school, Melanie decided she wanted to be a music teacher.  After an Associate's
degree at Eastern Arizona College, she completed her baccalaureate degree in
music education at Northern Arizona. Her graduate work was in choral conducting
at Brigham Young University, studying with Mack Wilberg and Ron Staheli.
Melanie is a charter member of the Sonoran Desert Chorale and performs with
them regularly. She currently teaches general music at Tumbleweed Elementary
School in Phoenix. She is also on the boards for Arizona Orff, Arizona Kodaly and
the Arizona Society of General Music Teachers.  The highlights of her musical
career so far include performing in the Sydney Opera House, her recent singing
tour to Europe and watching her three children discover their own musical talents.
